Homework for Wednesday, Nov. 1

Students are to practice creating a brainstorm of a topic of their choice in preparation for writing a multi-paragraph piece. They should then organize their ideas into groups which can be written into paragraphs tomorrow. We practiced brainstorming and organizing today for a piece about trick or treating. The students gave ideas about the general topic and wrote I wrote them in the brainstorm. We then organized each idea bubble by giving it a symbol. Each similar ideas had the same symbol so that we know that they will go together in the same paragraph. This is all the students should do when organizing. They do not need to rewrite the ideas together to group them. Students should be aware of the common idea for each group (paragraph). When we did this, we had three main groups. One was about the basics of trick or treating, one was safety tips, and one was about being kind when trick or treating.
